Testament of Joseph (TestXII) (eng)
10
1 Look now, my children, at what patience and prayer with fasting can achieve.2 And if you pursue self-control and purity with patience and a humble heart, the Lord will dwell in you, for he loves self-control.3 But wherever the Most High dwells, even if someone finds themselves caught up in envy, slavery, slander, or darkness—the Lord living within them doesn't just rescue them from evil through self-control, but lifts them up and gives them glory, just as he has done for me—4 for such a person is upheld in every way, whether in deed, in word, or in attitude.
